Six wayfinders

The people who
make it possible.

Every Aroha guide is Nepal-based, employed year-round rather than per trip, insured to the altitude they work at, and paid above the national association rate. Between them they cover all eight regions.

Guide profiles are fictional. The photographs beside them show the terrain each guide works in — they do not depict the people described.

What we commit to

Guiding standards.

The parts of a trekking company you cannot see from a brochure, written down.

Year-round employment

Guides are salaried, in season and out of it, with insurance that does not lapse between departures.

25 kg porter limit

Enforced by weighing loads at every trailhead. Porters are insured to the same altitude as the group they carry for.

Turn-around authority

Any guide can turn any individual around, at any point, without calling the office first.

Current medical training

Every guide holds a wilderness first-aid qualification as a minimum, refreshed before each season.

Guide-led

Ask for someone by name.

If a profile here matches what you want from a trip, say so when you enquire. On private departures we will build the dates around that guide's calendar.
