The village of a thousand smiles
When we first visited Kibwezi in 2018, the village of 1,200 people shared a single seasonal river — often dry, always contaminated. Eight years later, two solar-powered boreholes supply clean water to every household, and the children who used to spend their mornings walking to water are now in school.
