Every year we publish a full account of what we did, what it cost, and what we learned. We do this because we believe transparency is not a PR exercise — it is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of everything else. If you are a donor, a partner, or simply someone curious about where the money goes, this is for you.
The numbers
In 2024, KINDRED raised $14.2 million — up 23% from 2023. Of that, 89% was spent on programme delivery, 7% on fundraising, and 4% on administration. We served 787,000 people across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ghana, Senegal, and Ethiopia.
Our clean water programme installed 42 new boreholes, bringing our total to 218 maintained installations. Our education programme opened 14 new schools and renovated 23 more. Our health programme expanded to two new clinic sites, bringing us to 24 operational clinics. Our food security programme enrolled 4,200 new farming families. Our women's empowerment programme disbursed 3,800 new microloans.
What we learned
"The communities that thrive long after we leave are the ones where our first question was not 'what do you need?' but 'what do you already have?'"
We made mistakes in 2024. One borehole in Tanzania was sited incorrectly and required a costly reinstallation. A teacher training partnership in Nepal did not produce the quality improvement we expected. We've written honestly about both in the full report, available to download from our website. We share failures not to perform humility but because we believe it makes us — and the sector — better.
Thank you
None of this happened because of KINDRED. It happened because 34,000 donors, 210 volunteers, and 88 corporate partners decided that change was possible and put their resources behind that belief. We are grateful every day.
