The problem

In the districts where we work, 1 in 3 children never completes primary school. The barriers are many: no local school, undertrained teachers, no materials, and social pressure — especially for girls — to prioritise household work. The cycle of poverty is nearly always traced back to a lack of education.

Our approach

We build climate-resilient schoolrooms from local materials, hire and train community teachers, provide free school meals funded by the school's own kitchen gardens, and run after-school literacy clubs for girls aged 10–16. We work directly with local governments to ensure our schools are officially recognised and funded beyond our involvement.

The impact

85,000 children now have access to quality education through KINDRED-supported schools. Teacher quality scores have improved by 60% in our training regions. Our girls' retention programme has kept 94% of enrolled girls in school through secondary level.
