FAQ

Common questions.

Answers to the questions we hear most often — about your first visit, insurance, payments, anxious patients, and more. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch.

Your first visit

Your first visit is a comprehensive new-patient examination. We'll take a full dental and medical history, carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues (including an oral cancer screen), take any X-rays needed, and have a relaxed conversation about your concerns and goals. We'll then put together a personalised treatment plan and go through it with you at a pace you're comfortable with.

We book 60 minutes for new-patient examinations so we're never rushed. If you'd like a clean on the same visit and time allows, we'll do our best to fit one in — or we'll book you a separate hygiene appointment.

Yes, and we encourage it. Recent X-rays in particular are helpful — they can save you a repeat exposure and give us a baseline to compare against. You can also request your records be sent directly from your previous practice.

Insurance & payment

Yes. We work with most major dental insurance plans. Please bring your insurance card and any relevant policy details to your first appointment and we'll verify your coverage. We'll always tell you what is and isn't covered before beginning any treatment.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, and bank transfer. For larger treatment plans we offer interest-free payment plans through our finance partner — ask the front desk for details.

Absolutely. We see many patients without insurance. We offer a transparent, itemised fee structure so you always know the cost before treatment begins. We also have a yearly membership plan that covers routine check-ups and cleans at a reduced rate — ask us for details.

Anxious patients

Dental anxiety is very common and nothing to be embarrassed about. We work at your pace, always explain what we're about to do before we do it, and use clear signals (like raising a hand) so you feel in control. For patients with more significant anxiety, we offer anxiety-management consultations and can discuss sedation options. Please let us know when you book — it helps us prepare.

We offer inhalation sedation (happy gas / nitrous oxide) for patients who need a little extra help relaxing. For complex cases or more significant anxiety, we can refer to a colleague who provides IV sedation. Please discuss this with us at your consultation.

Emergencies

We reserve appointments every day for patients in pain. Call us as early as possible — ideally first thing in the morning — and we will do everything we can to see you the same day. Do not suffer in silence.

Our voicemail includes instructions for accessing out-of-hours emergency dental care in the area. For a dental infection with swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, please go to your nearest emergency department immediately.

Children

We recommend a child's first visit around their first birthday, or when their first tooth appears — whichever comes first. Early visits are short and relaxed. The goal is familiarity, not treatment. Getting children comfortable in the dental chair early makes a huge difference to their long-term dental health.

This is very common and we have lots of experience with it. We work slowly, use age-appropriate language, let children explore the instruments, and celebrate small wins. We'd rather a child leaves without any treatment but with a positive experience than the other way around.
