Golden Pothos
Epipremnum aureum
Nearly indestructible and endlessly cascading — the perfect trailing plant for any shelf.
Golden Pothos earns its reputation as the world's most forgiving houseplant. Its heart-shaped leaves in vivid chartreuse and deep green cascade gracefully from shelves, hanging baskets, or trained up a wall with small hooks. Native to the Solomon Islands, Pothos thrives in conditions that would stress most plants — low light, irregular watering, and temperature fluctuations are all tolerated with good humour. It grows rapidly, producing long vines that can reach several metres indoors, and propagates effortlessly in water, making it a gift that keeps on giving.

Care tips
Allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings — Pothos is far more likely to die from overwatering than drought. In low light conditions, water even less frequently. Trim long vines regularly to encourage bushier growth and prevent leggy, sparse stems. Propagate easily by placing a node cutting (just below a leaf) in water; roots appear within 2 weeks.
Common issues
Yellowing leaves in a young plant almost always signal overwatering. Brown leaf tips suggest low humidity or fluoride in tap water — switch to filtered or rainwater. Pale, washed-out variegation indicates too much direct sun; move to a spot with softer light. Root rot develops quickly if left sitting in soggy soil.
