Watering
Most houseplants fail from too much water, not too little. Always check the soil — stick a finger two inches deep and only water when it feels dry at that depth.
Light
"Bright indirect light" means near a window but out of direct sun — think greenhouse light, bright but diffused. Even low-light plants benefit from being closer to a window than you think.
Repotting
Repot when roots begin to circle the base or emerge from drainage holes — typically every one to two years. Move up only one pot size: too large a pot holds excess moisture and invites root rot.

FROND began in a converted greenhouse in Portland's Sellwood neighborhood, where our founders spent years sourcing and testing the world's most interesting houseplants before finding the ones that truly thrive in real homes.
We travel to growers in the Pacific Northwest, Florida, and California to hand-select every variety we carry — no wholesale catalogs, no blindly ordered stock. If a plant doesn't earn a place in our own living rooms first, it doesn't make it onto our shelves.
Every plant ships with a hand-written care card, a QR code to its full care guide, and our guarantee: if it doesn't survive the first thirty days in your home, we'll make it right.
