Manaslu & Tsum
The circuit people walk once they have already walked Annapurna.
Manaslu is what the Annapurna Circuit was thirty years ago: a full circumnavigation of an eight-thousander, a high pass at the end of it, and no road anywhere near the middle. The restricted-area rules have kept the numbers down.
The lower Budhi Gandaki gorge is genuinely dramatic walking, cut into cliffs above the river. Higher up the culture turns Tibetan, and the side trip into the Tsum Valley reaches monasteries that see a few hundred visitors a year.
