Karnali province
Dolpo & the far west
Three weeks, three passes, and almost no one else.
Upper Dolpo is the most committing journey Aroha runs. There is no road, no reliable phone signal, no lodge network and no way to shorten the route once you are inside it. Everything is carried; every night is a camp.
What that buys is a landscape almost nowhere else in the Himalaya still offers — Bon monasteries older than Buddhism in Tibet, salt caravans on the trail, and Phoksundo, a lake so saturated in blue that people assume the photographs are edited.
