The business is fictional

Umbra is not a real observatory. The staff, the instruments, the rooms, the prices and the journal entries are demonstration content. No booking, enquiry or payment made through this site reaches anyone, because there is nobody to reach.

The astronomy is real

The coordinates are genuine high-desert coordinates and every position, phase, dusk time and dark-hour figure is computed from published algorithms rather than invented. The star catalogue is the Yale Bright Star Catalogue as distributed by VizieR. The method and its known approximations are set out on the dark-sky page.

It is accurate enough to plan a night by and is not offered as a navigational or professional reference.

Reuse

A buyer of this template adapts the identity, the content and the prices to their own business. The astronomy engine works anywhere: change the coordinates and the time zone in one file and every figure on the site recomputes for the new site.

Third-party data and fonts carry their own licences, recorded in the asset provenance file that ships with the source.
