A community nonprofit
No one in our neighbourhood should face hard times alone.
Kindred works alongside neighbours to meet today’s needs — food, learning, shelter and care — and to build a fairer tomorrow. Together, small acts of kindness add up to lasting change.

Our programs
Care that meets people where they are
Food & nutrition
A community pantry, hot-meal kitchen and weekend food packs so no family goes hungry between paydays.
Shelter & housing
Emergency beds, deposit grants and a caseworker who walks with families until they have a stable home.
Youth & learning
After-school tutoring, mentoring and a summer club that keeps young people learning, safe and inspired.
Health & wellbeing
Free clinics, mental-health drop-ins and warm spaces — care for the whole person, not just the crisis.
Older neighbours
Befriending visits, lunch clubs and help at home that keep older people connected and cared for.
New arrivals
Language classes, welcome packs and a friendly guide through the everyday for refugees and new neighbours.
How we work
Led by neighbours, rooted in trust
“They didn’t just hand us a food box. They sat with us, listened, and helped us find our feet again.”
We start by listening
Every program begins with the people closest to the need. We ask, we listen, and we design support with the community — not for it. That’s how help becomes lasting.
- Resident-led advisory groups in every program
- Open accounts — you can see where each dollar goes
- Long-term relationships, not one-off handouts
Small acts, lasting change
A warm meal opens a door. A tutor opens a future. We connect immediate help to longer-term support, so a moment of kindness becomes a turning point.
- Wrap-around care across food, housing and learning
- A named caseworker for every family we support
- Followed up at 3, 6 and 12 months
94%
of families we supported were still stably housed a year later.
4.8/5

There’s a place here for you
Whatever you have to give — an hour, a skill, a steady gift — it makes a real difference here. Find the way that fits your life.
Volunteer your time
Cook in the kitchen, tutor a teen, befriend an older neighbour or help behind the scenes. Two hours a week changes lives — including yours.
Fundraise with us
Run, bake, stream or host a supper club. We’ll send a fundraising kit and cheer you the whole way to the finish line.
Give every month
A regular gift, however small, lets us plan ahead and be there the moment a neighbour needs us. Cancel anytime, no questions.
“
When I lost my job, Kindred was the first place that treated me like a person, not a case number. They helped me feed my kids — and then they helped me believe things could get better. They were right.
