Hebridean Passage

Oban to the outer edge of the Hebrides

The route

The wildest of the three routes — weather-dependent by design, reaching for St Kilda's sea-stacks and Iona's abbey when the Atlantic allows it.

Day by day

  1. Oban — Embarkation

Board on the Argyll waterfront. An evening sail out past Kerrera as the welcome dinner is served.

  2. Isle of Skye

A morning zodiac landing beneath the Cuillin ridge, followed by a coastal walk to the Fairy Pools, weather allowing.

  3. St Kilda

Weather-dependent by design — when the Atlantic allows it, a landing on Britain's most remote archipelago, its sea-stacks thick with gannets.

  4. At sea — Outer Hebrides

A crossing day with an expedition-team lecture on the archipelago's Norse history, and a zodiac cruise along the Harris machair coastline.

  5. Iona & Staffa

Morning at Iona Abbey, one of the oldest Christian sites in Britain. Afternoon zodiac approach to Fingal's Cave on Staffa.

  6. Oban — Disembarkation

An overnight return south. Farewell brunch on the Sun Deck, then disembarkation at Oban by mid-morning.
