Nadia Ferris builds small furniture the slow way — mortise and tenon, hand-cut dovetails, no screws where a joint will do. Her three-legged stools have become something of a signature, steady on the most uneven farmhouse floor.

She works alone in a converted dairy, and takes a handful of commissions a season. The waiting list is honest about that: good joinery can't be rushed, and she won't pretend otherwise.
