The brief

Our own studio, on a single floor of a Victorian warehouse in Clerkenwell. The fit-out was an exercise in practicing what we preach: a workspace that is rigorous in its organisation, generous in its proportions, and honest in its material expression.

The plan separates the studio into three zones — a quiet drawing area at the rear, a collaborative model-making and presentation space in the centre, and a client-facing gallery and library at the street end. Bespoke oak joinery, raw steel, and exposed concrete form the material palette. A continuous strip of north light above the drawing tables ensures consistent illumination throughout the working day.

The project was completed in eight weeks on a tight budget, demonstrating that design quality is fundamentally a function of care and precision rather than expenditure.
