Leather
Vegetable-tanned leather arrives stiff and pale and finishes itself with use. Condition it twice a year, keep it out of standing water, and let the patina happen — that's the point.
Brass
Solid brass develops a living patina over time. Leave it to age, or buff it back to bright with a brass polish whenever the mood takes you.

Vegetable-tanned leather, saddle-stitched by hand. Full-grain veg-tan leather, hand saddle-stitched with waxed linen thread, edges burnished by hand. It will patina — that's the warranty, not the risk.
