From call to kWh

How We Install Your Solar

Six phases. Typically six weeks for a residential system. We handle permits, utilities, and inspection — you just flip the switch.

01

Consultation & Site Assessment

~3 business days

What happens

  • 30-minute call with your HELIO energy consultant to understand your goals, usage, and budget
  • Remote satellite analysis of your roof to evaluate size, pitch, shading, and orientation
  • Optional in-person site visit for more complex properties
  • Review of your last 12 months of utility bills to size the system correctly

What you do

Answer a few questions, share a recent utility bill, let us do the rest.

02

Custom System Design

1–3 business days

What happens

  • 3D shading simulation using hourly irradiance data for your specific location
  • Panel placement optimised for maximum generation, avoiding obstructions
  • String inverter or microinverter selection based on your roof configuration
  • Battery sizing calculation if backup power is a goal
  • 25-year cash-flow model and proposal shared via secure portal

What you do

Review the proposal and design. Ask questions — this is your system.

03

Permits & Interconnection

2–4 weeks (municipality- and utility-dependent)

What happens

  • Electrical permit application filed with your city or county
  • Structural engineering letter (if required by local jurisdiction)
  • Interconnection application submitted to your utility company
  • HOA approval coordination if applicable
  • We track all filings and follow up proactively — you'll never need to call a permit office

What you do

Sign our project agreement. We handle everything from here.

04

Professional Installation

1–2 days for residential; 3–7 days for commercial

What happens

  • NABCEP-certified installation crew arrives at scheduled time
  • Roof attachment hardware installed with weatherproof flashing (10-yr workmanship warranty)
  • Rail and clamp racking system assembled
  • Panels mounted and electrically wired in planned string configuration
  • Inverter, disconnects, and monitoring hardware installed
  • Battery installed and wired if included in your system
  • Thorough cleanup — your property left exactly as we found it

What you do

Be home (or designate a point of contact) for the install crew.

05

Inspection & Utility Activation

1–2 weeks

What happens

  • City or county inspector visits and signs off on the electrical installation
  • Utility company installs your new bi-directional net-metering meter
  • Permission-to-operate (PTO) received from utility
  • System switched on for the first time

What you do

Be available for the utility meter swap (usually a brief appointment).

06
