- Tell the therapist about sensitivity, recent exfoliation and relevant skincare.
- Prepare the hair and skin according to the advice for your chosen treatment.
- Keep freshly waxed skin cool and limit avoidable rubbing.
Start with the area and your skin
Hair texture and the skin beneath vary between the face and body. Products used recently can also affect how the therapist plans a waxing appointment.
An appropriate wax, manageable sections and regular comfort checks help shape the technique around the area being treated.
A visit in three parts
- 01
Share the relevant details
Mention sensitivities, prescription skincare, recent exfoliation and earlier reactions before treatment starts.
- 02
Prepare and work in sections
The skin is cleaned and protected. Application considers the wax temperature and hair-removal direction.
- 03
Finish and discuss home care
Soothing finishing care and clear directions explain how to look after the area afterwards.
“A little preparation leaves fewer questions to carry into the treatment room.”

Arrive with a little preparation
- Allow enough hair for the wax to grip; around 6 mm is a useful general guide.
- If suitable for your skin, gentle exfoliation belongs about a day before the appointment rather than immediately beforehand.
- Avoid treating sunburned skin and discuss strong active products used on the area.
- For body waxing, loose breathable clothing can help you feel comfortable.
A gentler first day
Keep the area clean and cool after treatment. Unnecessary friction, hot baths, vigorous exercise, direct sun and fragranced products may be uncomfortable on newly waxed skin.
After the skin settles, ask about gentle exfoliation between visits. Follow the therapist’s individual guidance if sensitivity or ingrown hairs are a concern.
